Reddit: Siad Barre was a Terrorist.

Interview he had with Universal TV a year before his death. He repented and asked for forgiveness for the mistakes he commited.
I heard he got Somali Islamic scholars in a courtyard and poured petrol on them and burned them because they didn’t like his Marxist laws and he changed the female inheritance

From the top dogs in Africa to the gypsies of Africa. Siad Barre was a terrible person and a good person at the same time compare what Somalia was his time and today, 32 years ago he was overthrown why hasn’t a strong government been formed that can rule from Lawyacaddo to Kaamboni? Syria that over 500k have been killed in their civil war is about to have more peace and development than Somalia.

Siyad barre was a Saint who prevented a civil war in 1969.

He build somalia and made it strong. 33 years later culusow is begging Burundi for biscuits and Uganda for toilet paper.

He alone kept somalias shame hidden for 21 years. The zoo that is somalia and for the whole world to see we are witnessing today.

Siyad barre is the best thing somalia ever had and will ever have. The zoo is out now.

Go look at Somalia before Siad Barre. The government was working great. Stop coping. He fumbled the bag hard.
That isn’t true. In the beginning of the first decade of Somalia’s independence, the government was working great, but afterwards it became very corrupt and factional. After the assassination of Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, the country was about to fall into civil war, until the military took over. People were actually celebrating when the coup happened, because the military was the last trustworthy institution left at that point.

We held democratic election in 1967.The late Aden Adde democratically vacated the seat after being defeated by Abdirashid Sharmake. Siyad Barre came and completely ruined the democratic system and never held an election in 21 years, until he was chased and those who disposed him, had no vision and continuation for the country. He's the main reason we are in this mess today.

:pachah1:You mean, he tried to eradicate TRIBES.

He was a genocidal maniac.
I am neither a Darood nor a fan of Siad Barre, but let's establish some facts. Before the rebels in the north attempted to overthrow him in the 1970s, Siad Barre did not exhibit signs of paranoia or turn on people, suspecting them of treason. During this period, he aimed to realize the vision of Greater Somalia, taking care of his people and fostering Somali nationalism, marking the first instance of such a concept in Somali history.

there were several attempts to overthrow President Siad Barre in Somalia in 1973.

  • August 1973: An attempted coup was launched by the Somali National Movement (SNM), a group of ethnic Somalis who were dissatisfied with Barre's rule and wanted to unite all Somali-speaking people in a Greater Somalia. The coup failed, and the SNM was forced to flee to Ethiopia.
So, please do not pretend to be all innocent; curse the khawarij, and may every demon who was supported by the kuffar to revolt and go against the prophet's teaching rot in hell.

No one on this forum can argue that Siad Barre was oppressing his people before his fear of rebels kicked in, except for when those Khawarij troublemakers were hiding in towns, using civilians as shields. Do they conveniently forget about the villages and towns they massacred and the wells they polluted? It seems like Siad Barre gets blamed for everything.

The crux of the matter is: would the widespread fighting and 30 years of bloodshed and destabilization, marked by tribal conflicts and power struggles, have occurred if the Khawarij rebels, backed by non-believers, had not attempted to seize power from the ruler? The aftermath of his removal showcased disunity and a chaotic power struggle. This was a form of divine retribution for deviating from the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.

Al-Imām Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728H) stated: “There have not been a people who revolted against their ruler except that their condition after their rebellion was worse than before they rebelled.” (Minhāj As-Sunnah 3/231)

Cali wardhiigley (Murusade) led the USC, he was heir to the presidency if Afwayne was to be overthrown, after he died in Rome he was replaced by Ismail Jimcaale (Waceysle) who died shortly after, then leadership went to USC Mogadishu which was headed by Hashi Weheliya (Abakr Murusade) he died too in a bomb attack that killed him and Muse Boqor who were manifesto allies and very important figures that tried to cool down the violence. Then Ali Mahdi took the helm and by then Afwayne was overthrown thus giving Ali Mahdi the ultimate chance to take presidency. This succession of leadership in the group is why Abgaal and Murusade were initially allies, the military group fighting in the regions were mostly HG and XL, at first they did coordinate with USC Rome for example the capture of gaalkacyo in november 1989 by usc mutineers.

Murursade also took part in the night-time cowardly attack on Galkacyo?
How pathetic, and then they ganged up on your little clan and called you Beesha Kuwait. Macsonkor.

We were not involved in Galkacyo. As for “reer kuwait”, It was not actually a dagaal but an ambush in parts of wardhiigley because Caydiids militia wanted access to the funds of a Murursade businessman in Wardhiglay that were hidden in the Pasta factory that Caydiid believed those funds fueled the Abgaal against him, there was a famous shirib maal jeclaa oo maar necbaa ma kuwayt baa (they love wealthy and act stingy like Kuwait) the richest country in the world at the time kklmao, if it was a dagaal like some claim then they would have defeated us in barmuudo and dayniile where we blockaded them and kept our allegiance to Ali Mahdi for some time like Medina.

This reddit thread has basically surmised my whole opinion on Siad barre. It’s shocking especially on tiktok when you see avid supporters of Siad barre.

They say he was a Wadani how can someone be a wadani when he murdered hundred thousands of innocent civilians.

Just because he did a couple great things for Somalia doesn’t excuse genocide.

Until we sit down and say during the civil war we all committed genocide and these war criminals put to justice we will never heal.

We need to build war memorial across the nation to remind us somalis never again.
Our people are allergic to order and rule following. Try going against a government action in any civilized country. You should blame the people that tried to get in the way of the government rather than the government.

I don't like how people d*ck ride him. Let's be real: if Siad Barre never came to power, we would mostly likely be in a better position.
Have you been living under a rock? Our people are ungovernable. There has never been a continuous period in history where these people had to follow the laws of a state. They’ve been nomads loyal to their clans forever. Siad barre was the first time these people had to deal with a government.

To be honest these people need to be governed with an iron fist. They have no problem following the laws when in western countries. This is because no one tolerates their bulls hit.

Italians were responsible for the law and order. They created the government.

No one followed them. Somalis lived according to customs and tradition. When some bonehead killed someone, diya was paid rather than being made to pay via firing squad and deterring future criminals.

The bottom line is, continued, centuries long exposure to the structure of a nation state is needed to condition these people. This is happening currently to Somalis in western countries. The ones returning to Somalia who lived in the west are more conditioned to follow rules.
