You are underestimating what people will do when money has run out. Yes the oligarchs bend the knee for him because going against him was stupid and you can make your money by getting along with him. But intelligence can be bought and the west will work with these oligarchs to get rid of Putin and how it would be beneficial for both. History shows when a leader has too many enemies he tend to fall. Putin took in more than he is capable off

There are a couple of crucial elements you're leaving out that makes this scenario highly unlikely to even occur; 1) the oligarchs symbolize Russia, EU especially the US will not suddenly change their opinion of them; and 2) the oligarchs will never trust the West, the side that constantly demonizes them to be highly corrupt—the people that automatically targeted their wealth items because of convenience—to be reliable partners if they in a strange setting decouple Putin. The West wants a broken Russia, and the Russians, wealthy or not, understand an open-question option does not exist for them. Either they stick to Putin or get destroyed.

That is true as well. If Putin gets removed Russia as powerhouse is done. And as you say these guys know it. It’s gonna come down to how much do you love your money. If these were Somalis everyone one of them would look after their money lol. But Russians are very nationalistic. Also they must know they will get picked off one by one by the west and just take their assets. Uk government just took Chelsea and any sale they gonna take the money in the name of helping Ukraine.
