Somalis need to not insert themselves when it comes slave trade talks. Anyone remember that old Awoowe from North Africa saying his grandpa enslaved madows... They've had a long history of it. Also, after what you see them do to people tahriibing I aint sticking up for them.

Yea she should’ve not said anything. Now they’ll dunk on her with somaliphobic rhetoric all while acting like they’re morally superior/ more educated. All the accounts replying to her pretending to be neutral hate Somalis. I’ve fought those weirdos before they’re not @ing her in good faith.

One thing these people never talk about is that their own fellow madow africans engaged in slavery and sold their own people too.

I don’t like them talking about the situation in Libya without nuance. It’s not slavery for alot of people, just kidnapping and extortion by criminal militias.

I know they have their own questionable history with slavery but people keep talkin like it’s a medieval slavetrade going on there and the wider society is ok with it, when that’s not true.

Their government was toppled and current authorities still doesn’t control some parts of the country. Militias are exploting the lawlessness

even ethiopian militias are doing it to sudanese refugees, and libyan militias do it to all migrants they come across (moroccans, egyptians etc) not just blk ones, these man just want to push anti-arab agendas by leaving out this info

There are no real Modren slaves in Libya, they are hostages taken when they tried to cross over to Europe. They demand for money from their families and when they don't get it they make them work by force or torture them.

tbh the definiton of slavery is broad and you'll always play a losing game in regards to it, better just play it safe cos whats happening in libya is human trafficking, organ trafficking, ransom gruesome stuff it wouldnt even matter if it was slavery.
