Other Cadaans didn't call Italians "Mutts". They were hated mainly because of being Catholics and were called "Wops" which comes from the Italian Word "Guappo" which meant swagger. However, other Cadaans corrupted the word to "Wop" to insult the arrogance of Italian-Americans.
The Irish were also hated for similar reasons, since they were Catholics. However, the French were largely under the radar in Louisiana and got along with new European incomers in the State and actively participated in the Confederacy.
You’re totally wrong. They hated the Italians because majority came from southern Italy right along the Mediterranean. These Italians aren’t like the northern Italians. Their hair is darker and their skin is more tanned due to their location and mixing etc.
you’re off base none of the hate actually stemmed from religion , that was just an add on. In particular with the Irish like I said majority of the hate against them had to do with them being poor and disease ridden and bringing lots of crime with them
Sure being of a different religion can cause some friction but people like Irish and Italians were discriminated against due to not being white enough in the eyes of Anglo-saxons. They were poor, disease carrying, uneducated , and bringing more crime with them. That was the main catalysts for the hate.
also your version of French history is wrong. The Spanish and the French both came to America before the British. Louisiana was a French territory. They were already there. They sold the territory to America (barely anybody lived there) in 1803 after losing a battle at sea against America. French immigrants didn’t really return again until end of 19th century. The immigrants faced discrimination especially around WW2 time
