Qatar Elections

Qatar plans to have their first elections to elect a new shura council in October.

As expected the usual UAE/Saudi gulf slave arab rulers who are vehemently anti-democracy and work to crush it anywhere and everywhere in the Muslim world are panicking. The reason they are rabidly anti-democracy especially after the arab spring is because they know they will be next to go.

They victimize and targets muslim countries but were not able to do a thing to Qatar with years of blockade. Now Qatar will have an election and they are scared.

I sense you are trolling but if not:

Islam definitely has some democratic undercurrents which were downplayed and supplanted by the later Caliphates, Sultanates and Emirates which were basically just standard monarchies.

The elections in Qatar is not what you think

Elections in Qatar was delayed for a decade now after the establishment of legislative body in 2003 and it's not actually a free and fair elections as one third of the shura would be selected by the Emir and political parties are banned in the country

Its a start, and even that has the corrupt gulf states of Saudi/UAE panicking.

There is already elections in the Gulf represented by powerful and largely free parliament in Kuwait (the only democratic Gulf country by western standards)

UAE also had elections since 2006 granted half of the seats are pre determined by the rulers.

Qatar is no different they classified Qatari citizens into 3 categories based on Asal ahan which lead to protests and closing down the streets of Doha. It wasn't that long ago when a major clan that makes up 20% of Qatar's population was banned from participating in the elections & classified as 2nd class citizens because they have large extensions in Saudi Arabia.

Anyone who thinks Qatar's elections are ground breaking needs to re check the facts.

Islam doesn't prohibit democracy but it does explicitly prohibit authoritarianism. Funny how you Saudi footsoldier wahhabis leave that out.
