I am still in shock from the news Badhan has over-taken Qardho as the 4th city and with these little towns such as carmo, saaxo, waciye all rising up from oblivion, I think we may even fall further down the rank, if we don't get our act together and provide a vision for this town and the role it will play in Puntland. Right now being a pit-stop between Bosaso and Garowe is un-feasible in the long run.

Does anyone have ideas what can Qardho do that is unique and only Qardho can do which is needed in Puntland? because we need to create an industry that is 'Qardho' specific and performing a key role in the state. The more our main town dwindles in the rank, the less respect and the less political consideration we will recieve. As everyone knows in Puntland, nothing is given, everything must be earned in the state. There is no clan in the state that is just given consideration for nothing and there doesn't seem to be this so called 'warsangeli' attitudes in sanaag.

It's a rough place in Puntland and you must earn your spot or you basically die and noone will really lose sleep at all or care at all. Ask what Farole said to those boys in Baargaal when they were running around with that 'Gardafu state' nonsense, he said to their clan elders and I am quoting the words 'salada jimco laguma dugto baargaal' manta, he meant you can barely fill a mosque in your town and are insignificant. It's up to them to get their act together but there is no 'freeby' ayuu ula jeeday.

This may happen to Qardho in the future, not now but if cities and towns keep rising as they are and If las anod returns we are already pushed down to 6th place. It's a matter of time before these other smaller towns start rising up, say 10 years and our rank could slip down. Galdogob Road is a damn life-line also and could change the game in Puntland with Galdogob to Garacad boosting their economic activity with the Ethiopia livestock trade. I really fear, in 10 years time Qardho will be struggling to hold even 10th economic town of Puntland and when that happens, we will start to vanish slowly from Puntland politics. Just look how HY in SL are vanishing from SL politics and look at all their towns, it's got nothing and their future is being sealed and I think if we don't get our act together, what is happening to them in terms of military violence is what I see Qardho becoming with Puntlanders attacking us as we still have this 'entitlement' attitude to political consideration but our economic activity won't justify it to the administration.

Let's start visiting landlocked countries or land lock districts that are booming and get ideas how they operate in their landlocked areas because Qardho is landlocked between bosasao and garowe and we could possibly use some ideas from that. Please suggest your ideas for Qardho, because I am quite stumped what it can do that is unique. Galkayo has that central region trade, Garowe the poltiical capital, bosaso the business environment, badhan largest university and god knows what their planning after the road is done, galdogob boys are visioning for themselves to take advantage of ethiopia trade through turdibi corridor all the way to garacad. Garacad even envisions a port. It's up to each clan to bring up it's plans and vision for it's town to Puntland government, it's a general rule we all know and then it's up to us to gather our diaspora together, our locals together, supporting partners domestic or international and begin executing to ensure our survival in the vicious landscape of Puntland. Heck even Saaxo, Waciye, and Carmo and those small towns are far better organized then us in Qardho and rechanging their districts.

Where are the kings we are behind in our vision for Qardho and beginning plans to execute it. The worst thing in puntland is to be left behind, ask baargaal boys how they got treated or habar yonis in SL.

Is Qardho not greener than the average places in Puntland? the town has great green places, food production could be an option and have farmlands nearby.

I think Warsangeli boys are doing the 'agriculture' part with those calmadow mountains and investors, it will be the dominant provider of agriculture produce in Puntland, because it's such large acreage and no farmer in Puntland has that acreage size. I think they want to provide food for all Puntland because gaas said 'meeshani agriculture bay ku haboon tahay' buu yiri which is code-word for provide the farming produces for all Puntland, and with that makhir university it looks like their trying to do what Borama does, create it as an education hub for Puntlanders and gaas said he will provide needed funds if they come up with a plan. Not to mention Las qoray was always envisioned as a jetty port for decades and they may re-ignite that who knows.

Agriculture is out of the question for Qardho. I am thinking fishery as we have the best fisher-men in Puntland through Bendar Bayla, this would be good but we will have stiff competition and it won't be a qardho specific thing because many other towns in puntland are renowned for fishing and some have already established fishing plants like habo in gardafu region and las qoray fishing factory

calmadow being the food production center makes sense, im loving the friendly competition puntites have to reach greatness, thats how we all grow together. Qardho is the art and culture center masha'Allah.

Steel production, cement, cotton, tobacco, sugar. Just some exempels on what Qardho can make.

@GBTarmy right the narrative in puntland looks like this. Galkayo known for central trade. Garowe the political capital, Badhan a mix of the best university and calmadow farming, bosaso the business/trade hub, galdogob the corridor for ethiopian trade, garacad the ethiopian trade port. Where-as qardho is known as 'pit stop' between garowe and bosaso or a place to have lunch and leave is quite scary dont u think? this future outlook should shake up all kings into action and a clan conference on the future of Qardho.

This is a good idea, manufacturing but is the energy infrastructure even available? Factories need lots of energy and with unreliable energy or non-existent energy, it really isn't feasible. But I like this idea because 'technical' trades is one trade we should focus on, even if qardho people don't want to do it, we can make it a hub for minority clans do similar to what dubai does by using indian labor.

Technical Trades and Health are two big gaps in Puntland. I hope we do provide the raw materials for puntland so they don't need to go overseas for it. If Qardho is known as the technical supplier of puntland, that will make me proud not the pit stop of puntland.

The Osman Mohamud are not principled people all their ranking politicians are people who have a price on their head $$$

That is why carmo has outgrowned qardho

Look at Omar Abdirashid for instance he steals but enjoys the fruits alone he doesn’t even built a single standing toilet lol

Biggest dissapointment is Burtinle. Qardho and Burtinle were booming early 2000s, but Qardho is light years ahead of Burtinle now. Largest electricity usage after the three big cities can be found in Qardho.

Qardho's main issue is that it has Bosaso on its backwaters. It must ensure that it's not viewed as an extension cord of Bosaso, but become totally independent of it.

Burtinle disappointed me big time. It has nice climate, no mosquitoes and it's a border town in the hawd plus the road reaches there. I dont no what caused the stagnation, it has all the ingredients to experience a big boom.

Carmo is pretty large, I am suprised actually. Has anyone been to qardho and carmo and can comment on which is larger. I would assume Qardho but the below picture has me wondering if it's close.

How common is this becoming in Puntland? He is working and he only arrived yesterday, what about the locals, why are they sitting around waiting for an office job?

It’s the locals they don’t want progress. Mostly they’re xaasids to each other. I’ve always been told if reer Burtinle could get their act together they can achieve great things.

The xaasidnimo there is on another level. Even those born there that you would expect to talk good about their city mention that very often.

Add that to it being very windy and situated where the ground is very dusty (carro guduud). And no paved roads apart from the main road (that needs reparation).

If they would choose to put aside siyaasad, I have no doubt that it would surpass every city in PL apart from the large three.

The irony is that those clans that are holding it back count 10 names or less from eachother :bell:
