Jubayr ibn Mut’im reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism.”

Jundab ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever is killed under the banner of blind following, who calls to tribalism or supports tribalism, then he has died upon ignorance.”

I'm a hardcore tribalist but it is not steeped in ignorance. I genuinely believe it is the fastest way for my region to develop. It's not blindly following but years of discussing and understanding our nature.

The Arabs before Islam used to say “support your brother wether he is the oppressed or the oppressor.” This was during the jahiliya when there was two kinds of Arabs chieftains and kings under foreign rule like ghassanids. The chieftains used to fight over simple things like right to treat guests did you know the prophet Mohammed pbuh own grand father had disputes with his cousins and brothers over who would inherit the right as custodian of the kaba? That is how rampant tribalism was in those days and Somalis are 100% worse then the Arabs pre jahiliya because we have Islam and aren’t polytheists who know no better.
