It's kind of true though, I mean I can understand the reason why some ppl at home are (don't agree with it), as they have seen the war or the effects (hatred towards one another) but WHY do us in the diaspora continue that madness? Especially us born outside of Somalia, that's so weird

Is it tribalism if you don't think you're superior and don't care much about qabiil but..... You like some tribes that arent yours just a teeny weeny bit more?

“Tribalism is a pernicious belief that has afflicted all human societies in every time period, originating in the worship of idols and reconstructing itself into many ideological forms throughout the ages.

Allah has commanded us to uphold justice with all other human beings regardless of their race, religion, lineage, status, or identity.

Allah said:

O you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice as witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. Follow not your desires, lest you not be just.

Surat al-Nisa 4:135

Love for one’s people is normal and healthy, if it leads to good deeds. But such love that comes at the expense of justice is no praiseworthy love at all.

Wathila ibn Al-Asqa’ reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, is it part of tribalism that a man loves his people?” The Prophet said:

No, rather it is tribalism that he supports his people in wrongdoing.

Tribalism by this definition has been rejected by Islam in the harshest terms. Tribalism is a form of “blind following” whose adherents live in “ignorance,” an allusion to the pre-Islamic worship of idols.

Aisha RA reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, the greatest liar among people is a man who insults another man by disparaging the entire tribe.

Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 3761, Grade: Sahih

In another narration, the Prophet said:

Verily, the greatest criminal among people is a poet who disparages the entire tribe.

If we accept blanket indictments of an entire group, then we are making a claim of collective guilt that will ultimately lead to collective punishment, and collective punishment is a crime of war. Islam rejects collective guilt and punishment, in words and deeds, because innocent people may never be held accountable for the crimes of others.

Allah said:

No soul earns anything except it is upon itself, and none shall bear the burdens of another.

Surat al-An’am 6:164

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

No man is to be punished for the crimes of his father or his brother.

Nothing, but you got some people on SSPOT applying 1 drop rules
Rahanweyns usually don’t mix with ajnabis they got a few subgroups (mainly digil) that have adopted some Madowweyns into their clan confederate wise (as a compensation after freeing them from slavery) but mixing is pretty rare among them

@The Good @Balaayo can tell you more about rahanweyns since he’s one, there’s a lot of misconceptions and lies about them

Kaiser I see you, but the essence of what he says is true. We don't go around asking people their qabils. It comes from the fact that we're a settled community, everyone knows which qabil lives on which plot of land and there's very few migrations, so ppl stay in the same place.

But with maxa tiri clans, they're more nomadic, they're going from place to place, they're meeting different herders all the time. So it's natural for them to ask each other what qabil you are, they need to know where they are or if they've crossed clan boundaries. That's were this culture comes from.

Back in Somalia, reer koonfur look at northerners who constantly ask about qabil in a negative sense, it's seen as a sign of backwardness and speaks of a barbarian nature because we also look down on people who are constantly on the move aka nomads. I believe this hostility is easing though and that's a good thing.

I even heard many nomadic clans use to look down on farming and nowadays a lot of them are starting to practice it lol
