DEVELOPING NEWS Puntland's Counterterrorism Operation against ISIS and Al-Shabab (UPDATES)

New UN report states this about IS-S:
1. No confirmation of Mumin as a caliph. I agree with this, even if Mumin is the de facto leader. The caliph title will always be bestowed upon an Iraqi. IS racial hierarchy basically goes:

1.Iraqis
2. Syrians
3. Other Arabs, North Caucasus, Europe
4. Central Asia(with some exceptions like Uzbeks).
5. South Asians and Africans.

2. This racial hierachy also means that Arabs are supposedly getting preferential treatment over Somalis, I am not sure what this Privilege is, since many Arabs have been confirmed killed by Puntland and Co.

3. Puntland offensive has killed hundreds of militants, which is a massive blow since IS-S is less than 2k in terms of manpower, but key leadership assets remain on the loose.

Has other good information about: Taliban-AQ relations, Syria, Alkebab, and other stuff.

Is this the same for AS?
Member States estimate that more than half of ISIL (Da’esh)’s 600–800 fighters in Somalia are foreign terrorist fighters, mostly from the region, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. While Arab fighters led the initial assault, subsequent clashes involved mostly African fighters. Tensions arose S/2025/482 10/27 25-10785 over preferential treatment of Arab fighters, while African fighters were assigned manual labour and exposed to front lines in subsequent deadly offensives.

Fighting for something that places you at the bottom of the racial hierarchy. How fucked do you need to be.

Abu Hafs isn't a real name, just like how Jolani's real name is al-shaara. It's most likely some Iraqi dude hiding in Syria/Iraq, who does basically nothing since he can't move at all.

1. I don't think so, AS has always been an overwhelming Somali group, courtesy of being a part, and eventually successor, of the ICU . Godane purged most the foreigners a decade ago anyways.

2. I'm not even sure why IS-S even exists. AS is just as extreme and far more powerful(they actually control areas and don't just hide in caves). I guess Mumin wanted to be his own man?

3. The massive amount of foreigners in IS-S isn't surprising. IS as a whole has been moving resources from the Middle East to Africa. In ISWAP(replacement of Boko Haram), they have Iraqis, Syrians, and even Palestinians in their ranks. I'm guessing the foreigners are meant to coordinate the native levies and make sure they are following IS directives.

4. I remember a case of some Indians who join IS, and were put in charge of scrubbing toilets. I'm guessing the only attraction is ideological sympathies, money(IS-S has lots of it), and being unable to join AS for whatever reason.
