We as puntites keep our heads down and work hard for our people and land. We don't go online beggin for 'recognition' from others, we let our 'work n outcomes' achieved speak for itself. I say we should make August 1 a national holiday in PL, where we can celebrate the progress we made.

That's what I love about Puntland in comparison to Hargeisa n Mogadishu. The wealth is contained into the 'middle class' and the poorer class are very small, that's why u will see in hargeisa airport isaaqs fighting to carry yur bags but in PL no-one will do that waa laga 'fican' yhay dhinaca dhaqaalaha.

Where-as when u go to hamar or hargeisa u see 90% are bunch of 1 dollar ho's bragging about '10' rich men. The evidence 4 this is simple. Have u ever seen hamar or hargeisa 'self fund' roads, hospitals, schools? never, its either turks or uae or someone else pimpin them. Why? there is no middle class to tax in hawiye or isaaq this is reality, that's why and the small revenue from 10 rich-men isn't going to fund infrastructure. Plus the tahrib quota of puntites is 'minimal' where-as 100's are hargeisa-burco-hamar.

I prefer we adopt industrial economy and create products, goods, services and not 'resource economy' that is 'tied' to global demand. We must never become 1 industry state, that's silly. If we do 'oil, gold, etc' it will be 'secondary' industries only.

PL should never look back at Hamar n Hargeisa. They're woes isn't our problem. Let's keep marching on and concentrate on leaving behind a better and stronger puntland. Our next reform goal should be a 'universal census' as written in our constitution so our govt can expand our 'statistic' department with 'data analysts' who will break down the data into useful policy guidance for each government on areas to tackle, it will lead to district competition who will see their either leading or fallin behind.

This is a huge problem in southern Somalia where all the money that is meant for developing roads/universities/hospitals and improving general day to day life goes in to the pockets of 10% of politicians who only care about their stomachs. Something needs to be done about this.

Because Puntland was founded before a local business elite formed, the political elite had a freehand to shape Puntland as they liked. Puntland’s native business elite were all in Mogadishu so after 1991 they had mostly fled to Kenya, rest of East Africa, UAE, etc…

In South Central Somalia and in Somaliland the business elite that existed prior to the gov collapse continued to have real political power.
