Puntland says the FG can't sign oil deal

@Periplus you are right logically and morally but I am pessimistic about clan no longer being the absolute centre of our lives which everything revolves around in the medium term. If you want a supreme federal government let's make the state leaders take leadership of the FGS themselves eg the national president is head of one FMS simultaneously, another FMS head is at the same time the federal prime minister

Your proposal will have two effects:

1. Clan states will become the long-term solution in Somalia rather than a temporary measure until Somalia stabilises.

2. A minority clan can never become president of Somalia, a country they hold citizenship in.

Number 2 is important as it’s the reason why the South is dealing with AS.

Radicalisation, whether it’s a person or a clan, is due to them being ignored. The system they were in was so bad to them that they chose a horrible alternative, in our case AS.

Somalia needs to understand that the war against AS will not be won until we win the war for the hearts and minds of minority clans.

How would you deal with a) Puntland accepting the FGS exercising ultimate power over them if the federal president isn't Puntite or Darod and b) Somaliland accepting reunification through a strong central government plus meritocracy in choosing union level leaders

My ideas are for after Somalia stabilises.

When that happens, every entity will realise its in their interest to work together.

If they don’t want then they have themselves to blame for Somalias current state.

You can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped.

Solving problems isn’t about making people happy or accomodating their outdated mindsets. It’s about getting rid of limitations.

Everyone has to be involved, we can not make deals without the knowledge of our federal states :)
