It's a good time for Puntland right now.

1. The Puntland Democratization process is underway and is going smoothly

2. SSC revolution is underway, and Somaliland region is being subdued without us having to fire a single shot.

3. The Garacad deepsea port is close to completion and will open officially in 2024, promising to make our state and our people richer.

4. Our population is growing rapidly, as we are less urbanized than other regions.

5. The pacification of Galmudug who no longer see us as a threat, (although I wouldn't be surprised if HSM starts trouble like he did last time)

6. Deni has cut ties with FGS by triggering an article in the provisional constitution giving us greater autonomy

7. Infrastructure development, roads, airports, construction.

All in all, it's a good time for us. The future is looking bright Puntlanders

We definitely need to push for SSC-Khaatumo to be its own state and their income can come from taxing every single thing that comes from Somaliland State of Somalia. Even if a porcupine crosses into their land, tax it!
I personally am a big fan of HAG regimes, they are the key for us to escape this hellscape called Somalia. They cannot contain their greed and Unuka-Isms, so I foresee more autonomy or as HAG calls it "isolation".

It's defintely time to lobby for SSC Khaatumo. It was us who lobbied for Jubbaland state in 2013, forcing then HSM to formally recognise it.

It's time to do the same with SSC

When Deni stop puntland money goes to jeegaan and increase tax. Jeegaan became poor and cant pay off salaries to bribe militants.

@Yonis I would add to have a true 'golden age' we need the following.

1. More ppl getting bank loans for start ups or asset purchases. Reducing charity to only old/disabled will achieve this. Charity creates dependence and our ppl will never be rich or wealthy. To be wealthy u need money first for your idea.

2. Industrial Park that is urban planned for industrial standard. Similar to Guryosamo. Roads, lights, water grid connection, electricity grid connection(they need to upgrade the backbone to guarantee no outages and lay out industrial electricity connection points). They then can sell sell plots to manufacturers only. We can grow the park over a decade.

When I see that, I will say it's a golden age. The other thing is we need 'standards n laws' applied to building quality whether its residential, business, factory. It's not fair my house that is quality build is next to another house with low quality and destroys my property and hanti like we saw in 'waheen' somaliland. We can't keep operating like that. At least zone out residential areas and put wealthy ppl together, middl class together, poor ppl together. Don't put us all together. If u can't do that then simply enforce building standards for anyone building, this is a local government job.

I would call PL govt era right now is simply the Infrastructure age(Roads, ports, dams, wells, schools) it's not performing well with referral or specialized health facilities besides(MCH rural coverage) I want to see wat the infant mortality rate is now.

I like Bosaso airport hotel project, ppl in transit will simply stay there with 'hard dollars' that will be a money maker. Infact Garowe-Galkacyo airports should follow bosaso in that spirit.

Puntland's political consolidation under an electoral regime will mean increased legitimacy allowing it to raise more taxes and develop further as a state. Urbanization is helping Puntland's development as a state, but the gains form it will run out over the next 20 years. We need to make sure we don't become another Djibouti. That should be our goal, to escape from under the risk of entrenched one man or junta rule. Puntland seems to have escaped this, but we are not yet 100% in the clear.

The conflict against Somaliland will greatly slow our development prospects due to high gov spending on security. It is worth it however if it means the permanent crippling of Somaliland's secession hopes. Puntland has one big enemy in Somaliland and small enemy in the FGS. If we continue to grow our population relative to Somaliland and our economy relative to koonfur, we will become a third pole in Somalia.

GDP is calculated against each sector in your market and how much it has grown or produced in a 12 month period

Retail- This is an easy sector they sell not 'make' clothes, shoes, perfumes, phone start ups
Hospitality. This is the easiest to grow. Teach our students cooking skills of different cuisines and they will open specialized restaurants/cafes. Hotels fall under this also
Construction - This won't boom without locals having access to loans. This will be a supply chain multiplier(electricians, plumbers, laborers, engineers, materials) all boom. Construction material is all imported which is a shame as it can be stored in warehouses for decades as storage so it's a 'low loss' industry unlike farming. Even furniture is imported which is a good money maker.
Manufacturing. We currently doing 'low skilled' manufacturing linked to 'process plants'
Farming
Livestock
Fishery
Frankincense
Oil/Minerals
Tourism
Technology
- This sector will grow if we send our best to India and learn how to do tech-start ups.
Equipments - All sourced from China nothing made locally or even 'customized equipments' to locals.
General services - Without production of something, general services won't open up.
Professional servicees - lawyers, accountants, etc depend on a strong govt with laws n standards across it's economy

This is completely a public duty or a mix of public/private

Economists will value the output of our goods/services, we need investors to increase this. We must guide them where to invest so our GDP grows, more ppl will be milking from the value chain and it will simply replicate across the market.

@Yonis We must teach 'diversity' in our people mind also, repeating or doing what someone else did is going to choke our industries with over supply, hence we need ppl to differentiate from others and even cities to develop their own 'economy' unique from other towns.

Imagine Qardho created an 'education city' like Qatar, I suggested that for them, to bring high quality 'professors', industry certifications on it's courses, student accomodation apartments. It could grabbed the 'student market' in Somalia. Qardho could make itself the 'center' where all Somalis come to learn 'market skills' in demand.

Bosaso can be our manufacturing center. Galkacyo can focus on something else, like 'technology' start ups to modernize our market place. Their is high ownership of Phones in Somalia, it's time reer galkacyo tap into this.

Imagine industrial park in Galkacyo North, all focusing on production of certified medicines, Technology start ups, Bosaso having it's own industrial park, focusing on General Manufacturing while being the Financial hub, where loan sector is booming to create new business ppl and assets.

Then tourism will boom with diaspora, locals, and foreigners where our lazy business ppl can create resorts in remote beach towns. This is the Puntland I wish to see before I die

@Yonis don't get sad, we will get there, once the infrastructure age is over, that will be the next great age 'market development'. We could've been there if that siyad did our infrastructure and not make us 'gaari wa' and then these clowns wonder why PL is against such system.
