Juxa deserves to be president of Puntland. I have no doubt of this.
If we want Puntland to be an effective state, we cannot continue to rely on clan leaders to pick our parliament. The clan elder system is at the breaking point, it is falling apart after 25 years of pressure.
There will be competition any way after the clan system fails. We need democracy so that competition is peaceful. Peaceful competition can only be achieved by democracy.
I like how he compare our election and PL creation. He is right, that time there were MJ waiting xamar others said we will create our own state until xamar come back. Even they said PL will break Somalia like SL.
Today we see what this bring us, now next step one man one vote. We dont want it to be 100% correct but we have to start it and fix it in the coming years.

Be careful what you wish for, for democracy is not quite what it is lauded up to be. Just look at the US, where failure of democracy, as a system, is visible with the nation divided along tribal lines on the brink of deadly civil war. Not to mention the Victor Orbans, and Bolsanaros of the world. It may suit the violent, if hierarchically subservient European culture, but not egalitarian, nomadic cultures of these parts.
Elders are not the monsters they are being made out to be. The ungrateful nature of the people in these regions incl. the good minister himself, who seems hasty, going by some of his recent uttering, stinks to high heaven.
By all means, adopt democracy, as proven in the West, or socialist democracy, as in the case in China (And I am in favour of a form of this system for developing nations, but it requires modifications), if so is desired, but do not wholly dump, and darn the formula, which served the State so well thus far.
