Fishing in Puntland
Puntland has 1,600 km coastline along the Indian Ocean. Its waters are home to some of the richest fishing grounds in Africa.There is potential for great success with renewed investment in this sector. Local and International demand for fish is growing and this creates a great opportunity to develop fishing operations in Puntland.

Livestock
Livestock production accounts for 60-65% of the gross domestic product (GDP). Livestock is the backbone of the country’s economy and supports the largest production community of the Somali people.

Tourism Investment
Puntland has some of the most impressive beaches in the world. With pure sand, temperate waters and abundant wildlife, Puntland beaches could be developed into a most-wanted tourist destination - a perfect summer destination all year round.

Agriculture
The sector is dominated by smallholder farmers who own farms ranging from 2 to 30 hectares in area. The average farm size is approximately 4 hectares. Puntland's competitive advantage as an investment location for agriculture is supported by:

1. Highly underinvested sector
2. Availability of affordable labour and agricultural land

Puntland Oil Reserves
Dharoor Valley and the Nugaal Valley explorations areas may have reserves of up to 10bn barrels of oil. The basin fill is thick, with more than 10,000 feet of sediments in some areas. Several potential reservoirs are targets within the two basins. These two blocks cover an area of over 9.7 million acres. With only 3 wells drilled in the two block areas, this is one of the least explored areas in Africa.
