Because somalis didn't breed them with other types of horses even though some somali horses have mixed with Arabian ones.
The Mongolian horses are known their shortness, they are the same size of somali ones but they were super fast and allowed mongols to conquer Asia.
I guess somali horses are also relatively fast and more resistant to heat and lack of water.

Yeah mongol tactics r conquer fast loot, same with us we conquered Abyssinia not like the european style force hold into that slow pacing while we somalis used camel horses have u seen our weapons it was for speed not heavy ones
