Authorities in Somalia’s autonomous state of Puntland arrested three journalists working for a local radio and TV stations on Thursday, Horseed Media reports.
Ahmed Ali aka Aanogeel , the director of Codka nabadda radio, SBC TV reporter Abdiweli Jama and freelancer Journalist and Photographer Saed Nadara were detained by Police at 10:30am in downtown Galkayo upon arrival at a venue where press conference was scheduled to take place. The press briefing was organized by the business community who were conducting public protest against sudden and unannounced tax increment on essential goods.

Horseed Media reports the three journalists were freed without charges after several hours.
Recently, Journalists in Somalia have seen deteriorating press freedom conditions, including detentions, censorship, harassment, and direct attacks by police officers.
