There are all sorts of Puntites. There are those who have Southern accents due to the Mogadishu ethnic cleansing. There are Mudug accents, Nugaal accents, Bari accents and so forth.
You will definitely see some random Southern-ness with Puntites, due to the historic migration patterns etc.
Watch the video in full abayo and notice what the lady on the left says towards the end, completely staged video. yes MJ live there and have lived there in the past but all three of the participants have xamar dialects while supposedly being in Garowe?
Two or three dialects, mudug and nugaal (I can’t tell the difference) and far north Bari accent. We speak cleanest and most eloquent Somali.
They’re forcing their xamar dialect down in the video above, listen closely and you’ll hear it. I’ve lived in Mudug and have spent time Garowe and I’ve never heard any asal puntlander who sounds like this. They’re deliberately suppressing their accent.

The girl on the right sounds like she came from xamar yesterday but the girl on the left sounds a bit off. I cant put my finger on what exactly it is but its not an authentic southerner accent.
Girl on the left is suppressing it better than the one on the right but I hear the xamar in some of her pronunciation. But both of them slip up, and to top it off, guy interviewing them also has a xamar accent.
Also no puntlander says “madaxweynaheey baan uu dhimaana” that’s weird we have more elevated form of national pride and kuma xirna dowlada iyo madaxda.
