Puntland and Somaliland in opposite ends of Tukaraq

The May 15 attack by Puntland from mainly two sides the Hawd and Laami (road) Godqaboobe resulted in initial success of the Puntland militia in the Hawd but were later repelled by Jaamac Siyaad militia who attacked from another flank.

Puntland lost a significant Tank belonging to the biggest subclan in Mudug region and in whose possession the tank was in the past near three decades to the annoyance of the subclan and many in Puntland.

Puntland also failed to achieve their objective of capturing Tukaraq and they hoisted the flag outside and back of Tukaraq where the new custom check post was based.

Somaliland is some two to three kms range from that and in the old custom checkpoint of Tukaraq.

Neither are inside the two but stationed in between the two checkpoints of the Town the new and the old.

There are lot of wounded brought to Garoowe and many soldiers died in the battle where initially the surprise attack from Hawd by Puntland militia resulted in the killing of the Jibril Abokor Colonel named Col Mohamed Daud Nur.

Any reports by Abdiqani Dhegjar of Reuters is to be taken with a grain of salt.

Dhegjar is a well known Abdiwali Gaas Propagandist.

The Mudug subclan who the tank belonged are levvied. When Gaas first asked for the tank they told him to get lost.

Col Siciid Dheere intervened and pleaded with them reminding them how loyal he has been to Abdullahi Yusuf that subclan's hero. He reminded them how he was his commander during SSDF, in the Gaalkacyo wars with the USC and in Puntland during Jaamac Ali Jaamac all the way to Mogadishu. He told them that Abdullahi Yusuf used to swear by him and that he never refused his orders.

They then released the tanks. There is a clout if owning tanks and bragging by that subclan that brought stories and myth which that clan decorated with.

Nobody knew that it will be captured in the first major battle.
