Somalia is very unstable country and as the regional governments we delegated currency management to the federal government. Every function delegated to the federal government is non existant and not functioning. For example a 'national army' is not functional, Immigration matters is 'semi functional', foreign affairs is semi functional, currency is non fuctional. The federal govt cannot even manage it's own agreed upon task.

So this topic is can regional governments manage it's own currency. Yes they can. Look at scotland who manages they're own currency.

Jersey and Gurnsey and the isle of Manx each have their own version of the pound

both are UK islands in the English Channel or Irish sea

also crown territories have their own version of the pound or dollar. Caymen islands have their own dollar currency despite being a crown territory of the queen of the UK

Insha Allah we intend Jubbaland to have her own currency once she is stable and fully liberated. We will Peg it to the dollar to begin with like gulf countries and Chinese and Hong Kong currencies

The shilling is an old gold coin used by Austria around the year 1200. Because the good purity was very sold and consistent. Europeans adopted it very widely

the British adopted the name several hundred years back and they will end up passing it to their colonies.

people trusted the gold purity of the Austrian shilling like how investors today buy US gold Eagle coins or UK Gold Mint coins.

economists call a gold coin for investment and daily currency a specie. The Austrians mined these gold coins in todays Czechia and had the most pure consistent fine 99.99% purity
