Is there a psychological operation ongoing in Somaliland right now? I noticed an influx of social media accounts sprouting up with Ethiopian-SL "fellowship" rhetoric. People whom our ancestors deemed enemies suddenly support the north's separation. I vaguely remember reading an article long ago on how to divide and conquer a nation. It mentioned that one of the ways to stir turmoil in a region is to wage war amongst ethnic groups (clans in our case). SL is situated in an area that could be beneficial to Somalia as a whole. And I can see why Ethiopia wants to lay its hands on it. Ethiopia's relationship with Somalia and vice versa has been very fragile for a long time. I am skeptical that this deal would have any benefit to the SL region; however, I can also say that SL's recognition could be on the horizon. Or we might just have another war like the olden times.

I'd like to add that once this deal goes through, would it be a major win for the Oromos? I see no benefit in trading a port worth more than the shares given to SL for an airline cruiser and a government-owned telecommunications service.

Edit: I like to profess that I am against both SL and Oromopia. SL is basically a clan-based ethnostate, and Oromopia is committing ethnic cleansing as we speak.

The deal wouldn't fall through, but if Ethiopia is desperate, sure, it can mean war, but I don't see that going well for them. They will most likely play the long game, supporting SL and trying to strengthen relations. As many have pointed out, SL has an oromo problem. They have even started to incorporate Oromos into their clan system. I see oromos making a sizeable population in 10 years. Will that change anything? Maybe, but realistically, all this will most likely fail.

Somaliland is weak how do I know ? First of all they lost a good chunk of their military to a tribal militia imagine if Somalia actually gave money to them and I guarantee you if alshabab came into Somaliland they would overthrow the government but I heard things about how majority of alshabab leaders were isaaq and they didn’t want to operate in SL to save their own like Ahmed godane

Exactly I only see this as oromo migration I’m from Jigjiga they have an influx of oromos coming in even look at the border map of Somali region it’s getting smaller and smaller they will keep changing and stealing our land till they are satisfied oromos from a young age are taught the entire horn belongs to them wether it’s Mogadishu hargeisa or Jigjiga they want it all

How are they able to expand into Somali territory? Is it the Oromo militias doing this by themselves, or is the government playing a role in this? Does the DDS government do anything to stop them? And what role, if any, do the Oromo citizens themselves play in this expansion?
