Both. Even the ones who grew up in the west have colorist views. Of course we dont bleach like the 1s back home but a lot grow up in a home where lighter means better. For example both say wallahis and people back home view a romantic relationship with arabs/cadaans better than relationships with madows. There is a hierarchy.
Colorism and racism exist everywhere but nowhere does skin color matter as much as in India, they worship whites and if you have dark skin in their mind you are barely even a human.

Let's not lie to ourselves, South Asians are colourists and somalis are featurist. If we weren't so black we'd be colourist too. Only thing saving us from looking like other Africans is our hair and features like our nose so most ppl wear that like a badge of honour. And that has got to do with proximity to whiteness. Ancient Indians considered dark skin to be superior. In fact the most beautiful woman to have ever walked the Earth according to them was Draupadi the dark beauty.
They are right though. A lot of Indians hate Islam because of the Mughal empire but they were Arabs. They were Eastern Europeans. Persians also ruled them. They got ruled by white people not Arabs. Yet they blame Arabs because the religion was from Arabs. Thats like native Americans blaming Italians/Romans or hell Jews (since Issa als, was Jewish) for everything when it was the British, Portuguese etc who followed Catholicsm and Christianity.
Imagine if the Native Americans blamed Jews for everything since their colonizers were Christians? Makes no sense.

No what makes us different from other Africans is our tribal history and language. We have our own culture. This is a ignorant mentality you are spreading. Europeans look different and that's okay. What your saying is idiotic. Even if Somalis were much lighter I would still say we are different than Arabs. Who we dont share language with. We have influences from them because they are our neighbors. Why does Los Angeles have Latino culture and food? Is that self hate or is it from them sharing borders?

Most human beings suffer from self hate at some points of their lives and if you lived and talked with white people you would know they do too. It's not just black people just Google "i hate being white." Being confidence and in peace is a blessing.

most of the canonically dark skin gods in hinduism are now colored blue in their paintings and icons. also the skin color issue is an issue because India is very casteist, and the dravidians and dalits who are considered lesser than the indo-aryan brahmins are dark.
Indians might be bad with colorism but Pakistanis are worse since they are lighter than Indians on average. All of them have high Persian blood. You're right the original Indians used to look like Dravidians. But even they have so many looks/tribes. They look vastly different.
Afghanis are Persian and still speak Farsi. So they have high mixture and of course Europeans from East Europe.
I think self hate is a spiritual thing because economically Indians and many Asians households earn more than white people except for Jews.
Cadaans don’t even have small noses on average why are you lying? When do you see Somalis wishing they had coloured eyes and blonde hair like south Asians and Arabs do? When do you see Somalis bragging about some imaginary tribe back home with light eyes and light hair like North Africans, Asians and Arabs do? Our beliefs are nowhere near as bad. We have mixed people in Somalia and none of us look to them for representation like these Pakistanis are doing with their lighter people. If anything Somalis want ethnic Somalis to be our representation as much as possible.
We have our issues just like most of the world but it’s really not as bad as some of you make it out to be on here.
