I agree with most people here. Logically, being non Muslim doesn’t make you a non Somali. Ethnicity is inherent. But nationality is not and I think that’s the real issue.

What legal rights would a non Muslim or gay Somali have in Somalia? Would they be allowed to run for office? Would they be allowed to build other places of worship with the same ease a Muslim can build a masjid, would they be allowed to campaign to have children in primary school taught about homosexuality to stop homophobia... because you know every Somali National deserves to live in peace without fear of harm.

The debate is 2 fold. You allow one - a simple, logical inconspicuous idea. But it comes with a second and greater issue. That’s exactly how gay rights have advanced so much in the west in the last few decades.

Of course I’m not assuming a non Muslim or gay Somali would make a bad leader or be any worse than others. But we do their behaviour is reprehensible to Allah.

They are in fact non Somali. Logically it does make them non-Somali. We are ethnoreligious and our identity is not based on genetics but rather lineage and religion.

People like @Username confuse me. They claim to hate Somali's and that they wouldn't want to be Somali, but they're on a Somali forum. How does that make sense? It's a very weird and obsessive behaviour.
