I heard of this and apparently some small swahili tribes in other parts of East Africa claim Somali. Makes sense as Somali men were going around trading in the region for thousands of years even into the 1900s you'll see people who have granmothers from Comoros who were brought back by Somali men.

The Antemoros of Madagascar are said to be descended from the Dir Somali seafarers who arrived there.
