I'm still pissed Somalis never settled Madagascar when thr Mogadishu Sultan invaded the north looking for Gold.
Bro we could've had a large island of 130 million Somalis separated from everyone. No threat of expansionism when we're weak like now.

It would be fitting for us as seafaring people. An alt history of Somalis settling there probably would’ve ended up with us having a huge population and being able to resist colonialism. Also being able to invade south Eastern Africa we could’ve had our own empire similar to Japan. The island is also gorgeous but from our ancestors perspective there was no point of settling there really what they valued they already had but interestingly enough there’s a tribe in Madagascar that claims their lineage is from Somalia

Fr Somalis could've been so much larger. I mean the island is so large yet only 28 million people from hundreds of tribes. So it can still work if we wanna start moving like our Geelgire ancestors.

Somaliweyn is larger than western Europe. During the time of Imam ahmad Somalis were even bordering Amhara. So Somali didn't have the desire for mass expansion compared to small vulnerable tribes like Oromo who had an entire ideology of Expanding North from their home in Kenya to conquer the "Devils" who threatened their existence.

I heard of this and apparently some small swahili tribes in other parts of East Africa claim Somali. Makes sense as Somali men were going around trading in the region for thousands of years even into the 1900s you'll see people who have granmothers from Comoros πŸ‡°πŸ‡² who were brought back by Somali men.
