Somaliland: Proposal For New Road In Somaliland Without Government Consent

Hargeisa, (Qaran news)-An agreement has been reached in principal to construct a new major road between Lawya’Adde and Borama with a connection to the town of Jig’Jiga in Ethiopia.

According to sources this agreement was reached by the governments of Djibouti and Ethiopia, along with the federal entity in Mogadishu. The government of Somaliland, under the administration of President Muse Bihi Abdi is apparently neither a signatory to the project nor a participant in the discussions of the project.

The new road is to be funded jointly by the European Union, the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

Sources indicate that the government of Somaliland was not made aware of the projects and it’s planning meetings.

It is extremely unlikely that such a development project can take place in Somaliland, without the consent of the administration and furthermore, the involvement of the federal entity in Mogadishu, which has no authority whatsoever within the territorial borders of Somaliland, is merely designed to cause friction within the communities in Somaliland, and also with the neighboring countries of Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Reliable sources confirm the funding parties, the EU, World Bank and the African Development, had expressed their concern about the feasibility of the project without the participation and approval of the Somaliland government.

However, there is also indication that the funding group were convinced to proceed with the project by the Djibouti government who apparently guaranteed the co-operation the administration of President Muse Bihi Abdi.

The Somaliland government has yet to comment on or to clarify it’s involvement in this proposed project.

Lol without Somaliland say nothing happen, stop lying to yourself.

Learn to read. The project was brought in by the Federal Government (Dr Beileh of Awdal who is the Finance Minister of Somalia.).

Yes I saw this it was reached by minister Bayle. The man behind Djibouti plan to become Africa's Dubai. It's a corridor from Lawyacado-Borama-Jigjiga. Like times of Adal Empire. And pre British arrival on Somali shores. Inshallah this plan will succeed.

:mjkkk:Our infrastructure development is always some kind of road, I can't wait until we graduate to sewage and drainage systems, and other complex essentials.

You expected something here didn't you?!?!?

Don;t forget the factories and mines sxb- we have a lot of untapped resources that the Italians and Barre's regime didn't exploit.

They say Somaliland is for all clans yet are furious at the taught of reer Awdal getting this road. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Isn't there already a road that goes Lawya Cado to Borama and then one of Borama to Jigjiga?

Is this a new road or an improvement on existing roads?

Trade from Jigjiga and Awdal will be going through Djibouti instead of Berbera. With reer Awdal expanding their horizons, Isaaq will lose their brutal stranglehold on the region. They are afraid of what will happen when reer Awdal become strong enough to stand up to them.

This is the sole reason they economically barricade Awdal most of the time, but act like innocent people that want what is best for all clans. They are the children of the devil.

So let's see, Reer Awdal who're part of Somaliland want to use Djibouti port instead of Berbera(which is also part of Sland) because... :cosbyhmm:.

Nothing to do with port this has just to do with hatred for Samaroon and them gaining more revenues. Already Samaroon are one of the biggest spenders of taxes. Road being built through Samaroon degaans is not at interest of Isaaq which exposes the whole Somaliland agenda if Somaliland denies to approve of this road. This road means much because it will link all Samaroon in Ethiopia from Jigjiga to the community in Djibouti which for some nationalistic Isaaqis is detrimental, yet they go out of their way to make people believe that Somaliland is for all clans and fought centralism in Mogadishu, but want centralism in Somaliland.

No need to explain the obvious niyohow. Djibouti port is also the closest port to Awdal region so it makes sense. The road will be built on the existing old route (Borama -Harirad- Jidhi - Casho Ado - Zeylac- Djibouti).

That road is actually part of the national development plan along with other roads in Sland. Why I'm against this project is because Sland is not in it. Not because it would help Gadabursi.
