No one is to blame except for civil war. You're coming here with a gender bashing vibe. Somali women are mostly overweight both back home and in the diaspora. Yes, i'd like to think that alhamdulliah. However if you're a man with control issues or insecure with regards to your masculinity, your wife having her own income would pose as an issue.

The reality is that if someone is totally dependent on you, you can abuse them and get away with it, you can choose not to fulfill their rights and you can behave as you see fit.
