Presidential candidates demand FGS, Puntland Jubbaland withdraw civil servants from poll committees

MOGADISHU (HOL) - Presidential candidates meeting in Mogadishu have called on the Federal Government and two federal member states to withdraw civil servants and security agents they appointed to their respective electoral committees.

In a preliminary statement Sunday evening ahead of the conclusion of a three days meeting today, the 12 opposition candidates said President Mohamed Farmaajo and the presidents of Jubbaland and Puntland should review the appointments and bring in new people.


According to the candidates who include former presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Jubbaland president Ahmed Madobe and his Puntland counterpart Abdullahi Deni have violated rules of fairness by appointing civil servants to their state electoral committees.

The 12 leaders also reiterated their earlier demand on Farmaajo whom they accuse of packing the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) with intelligence officials and senior civil servants. Among those appointed by Farmaajo is his deputy chief of staff Abdinur Mohamed.

The three days meeting concludes today upon which the leaders will be expected to issue a joint position on the upcoming elections.

You also forgot this major fact, none of these candidates have a visable chance of winning. MPs most certainly hate reelected a gone official.

How dare they use such language?!! It was our efforts that forced FailMaajo to hold indirect elections and not fucking THEM. FailMaajo terribly outplayed them in the political arena, conquering their own cities (Dhusomareb, guricel), sacking Hawiye officials (ASWJ, XAAF, COSOBLE, WAARE etc), embarrassing them by blocking some of them to fly out to another town (Shariif), attacking and massacring their own security guards and eventually landing them in prison (Ina Abdishakur) etc.

If I was farmaajo, I would spend my last days repairing relations JL so when he goes, his people still have stake somewhere. If not, with him goes all influence of reer Gedo. It'll be bleak 4 years for them.

Everyday that goes by makes me think Farmaajo is on a path to reelection. Sheekh Shariif and Culusow look less and less viable, and the rest of the field is remarkably weak. If I had to bet today, I would bet on Farmaajo coming back.

Unfortunately, Farmajo could return to Caabduwaq in peace, he can mess around in Jubbaland and it won't personally affect him nor his sub clan.

But again, Farmajo has a way better chance of return then any of these candidates. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you need to man up and face the fact that Farmajo will not only be back, but he will see the elections of Madoobe, in the case that he does get reelected.
