It will take another 10 to 15 years of economic progress, reconciliation, trust building and sustained stability before people are comfortable with a nationwide Unified Somali Army with mixed backgrounds that can be stationed in every city. In the mean time Somalia should focus on its Air Force, Navy and Radar systems, all of which project the same level of sovereignty without being intrusive.

I believe the SNA should be in PL eventually but not in its current form. To many Somalis, the SNA represents either qabyaalad or Siyad Barre.
To alleviate this and to build trust amongst different tribes, I would make each qabiils soldiers posted to another maamul goboleed.
Ex: PL soldiers in Galmudug, Galmudug soldiers in Puntland.
It also makes sure that no one misbehaves because their people are being guarded by their enemies.

This is essentially what Jubbaland did. Half of Ras Kamboni are now SNA and get all expenses paid curtesy of Xamar with not a single Hutu soldier. And soon, they will be getting tanks, heavy armour, and drones. Why should we let only the Hutus milk the SNA when we can as well?

Puntland is special, as the first member of the FGS, the founding member in fact, and our soldiers + Bosaso's funds were used to start the FGS. Furthermore, we don't need shisheeye boots on our land, unlike your people. Once you become autonomous, you'll start appreciating how that feels and finally, you'll die to defend it.
The same Hawiye people who want the SNA mixed together, are the same people who applauded the 1991 genocide of Daarood people. The SNA being mixed-clan, will mean that Daarood men will start living in HAG areas again, buying properties, like they did pre-90s and drive nice cars. These people will get resentful again and whip up clan hysteria. You see, they think this suits their agenda, but when they see our boys, become men, and finally THEIR BOSSES, they'll start preparing their machetes again.

I remember an SNA soldier, who was killed not long ago, he was a Puntite and he was the leading poet/motivational speaker of the SNA. It reminded me of how powerful the 'gift of the gab' is in Somalia, which let's face it, they lack in Southern HAG circles.
What these HAGs don't understand, is that you can't stop the natural ascent of aftahan people, who have a long-track record of military adeptness. Our boys will climb the ranks of the SNA with lightning speed. Till this day, there are guys in Mogadishu, who came with Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed, and never left. If they want to invite thousands of our men, by all means, but we WILL gain power, and this time it will be more of a 'Rwanda' affair, instead of what happened in 1991.

Lol then whatβs the point? They will still remain autonomous, and yeah that arrangement still exists, the puntland gov is loyal to xamar and Villa Somalia on paper at least, and by extension the armed forces, police and civilian bureaucracy, however any shisheeye incursions or strong arming by a certain group will not happen, this is the red line.
