Yeah not sure why it takes so long would understand if they were operating speciality equipment like tanks or planes but pretty sure most this guys will be infantry

Groups like Al Kebab don’t engage in conventional warfare so troops need to be trained in counter insurgency tactics etc. Training also vastly reduces the number of possible casualties

There are specialised units in these batches of new troops that can handle specific weapons, design tactics and plans on the go, and work as a team. Among them are also operators, pilots and sailors that will man the tanks, helicopters and ships when the embargo is lifted. It would be stupid to only teach soldiers in these fields after it was lifted because expertise and capacity takes years to learn and acquire.

For Eritrea, a strong Somalia gives them breathing space in the Horn, so they have a strong incentive to push for that reality.
