What I managed to gather from all that is “were bigger than abgaal in Hirshabelle”.

According to the first census of the Somali republic and the latest accurate census ever conducted in Somalia, the population of Hiraan is about 2/3rds that of S.dhexe. Even though Hiraan is much larger b, abgaal S.dhexe is very densely populated with a continuous ring of farms and animal enclosure straddling from Mogadishu and Balcad all the way up to Xarardheere in Mudug.

According to the 2014 UN population estimate however, Hiraan and S.Dhexe are similar in population.

The 2014 estimate is a much less accurate representation of population than the 1975 population census, but for argument sake lets say the two gobols are equal in population.

Since most Reer HS abgaal live in S.dhexe (excluding the abgaal of Jalalaqsi district including Xalfooley) and most Hawadle live in Hiran (excluding the few families in western Jowhar and burane), we can conclude the larger clan would be whichever one has a larger share in their respective gobol.

Let’s look at the clans with established deegan in each gobol and compare the two, What we know is that S.dhexe is settled by

And Hiraan is settled by
