Somalia and Egypt sign three agreements on enhanced ties

Somalia Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Isse Awad, met with his Egypt counterpart Dahir Shoukry in Cairo on Thursday.

The two leaders have focused their discussion on their brotherly relations and cooperation between Somalia and Egypt and the way to strengthen and develop a region that serves the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly nations and has shared their perception of events and progress in the region and the world.

Following the extensive discussion, the two leaders have signed a three-point agreement including the establishment of a political discussion between the two foreign ministers, the establishment of a joint committee led by the two foreign ministers and the co-operation of the two diplomatic studies in Somalia and Egypt.

Shoukry expressed Egypt’s keenness on supporting the Somali government, asserting Egypt’s vision about the importance of the unity and integrity of Somalia’s territories and support to building national institutions.

Shoukry also voiced Egypt’s readiness to boost trade exchange with Somalia.

Somalia foreign minister Isse Awad has praised the relations between Egypt and Somalia, appreciating Egypt’s role in supporting Somalia.
