Some of you guy think Abdulahi Yusuf was a traitor but I will proof you wrong, bear with me with no prejudice for once in your life and listen to this interview you will realize AY was a remarkable and great visionary leader and the most patriotic leader we ever had.

I will translate to some of y'all who don't understand Somali like @The Good and others and summarize key points of this interview, let me remind you AY did this confession at his best friend's funeral in London after a life threatening heart surgery.

1. He talks about how he couldn't take the MSB killings of the MJs and arresting them including him for 9 years, after MSB released him after 9 years in jail and he led an army to free Ogadenia for the 1977 war, after coming back from the war him and his MJ friends orchestrated a plan to topple the MSB regime and their plan went wrong and they failed miserably, MSB found out about their plan and killed all the MJs in his government , AY and some the MJ army general's fled to Ethiopia and later he decided to rebel and started the SDDF with his friends.

2.After securing an army and Ethiopian support they tried to capture Puntland regions through Galadogob which they succeed after a heavy battle.

3. The Ethiopian soldiers tried to put their flag on it which he objected and later after stand-off between the SSDF army and the Ethiopian army they agreed to put the Somali flag instead.

4. After capturing some parts of mudug, the Ethiopian switched on him and demanded they would stop funding him if the Ethiopian flag is not erected on these new captured villages, he mentions Ethiopians wanted to distract Somali government claim to Ogadenia.

5. Then he found out SNM signed a deal with Ethiopia to get them an independence from Somalia, upon hearing this news he traveled to Adis Ababa and asked Mangisto why would he want to cut Somalia into two when Ethiopia dont't want Eritrea to secede from it, he describes Mengisto as small midget half of his size, after meeting with the Ethiopian Emperor he went to meet the UN for Somalia and told him about Ethiopi's grand plan to cut Somalia into two, the UN representative told him there is not much he can do it about it.

6. AY told all the soldier to go home and advised them the Ethiopians tricked us and told his soldiers he would rather cut a deal with MSB than help Ethiopians claim their land and give SL independence,AY and all the SSDF leaders fled to Kenya and asked for a political asylum.

7.He stayed in Kenya and watched Somalia go into an apocalypse mode and later it bothered him to watch his country collapse and decided to do something about it, he mentions he was the first person to start this mess and felt he could fix it, AY decided to put Somalia back on track and pulled strings to secure the Somali presidency and tried fix the country so he could die in peace and not known as traitor.

worst president ever. did the most heinous crime ever against Somalia

Fighting against extremists like ICUs was necessary, if it wasn't AY Farmaajo wouldn't at Villa Somalia, all Somalis should appreciate him for bringing law and order to Mogdishu and making Somalia a federal republic.

Lol he was an obstacle to peace and resigned because he failed to fulfill his duties, he said this himself.

In his speech, broadcast on national radio, he said: "When I took power I pledged three things.

If I was unable to fulfil my duty I will resign. Second, I said I will do everything in my power to make government work across the country. That did not happen either.
Third, I asked the leaders to co-operate with me for the common good of the people. That did not happen," he said, according to Associated Press news agency.

But your adero, Farmajo, has brought Ethiopians to Gedo to attack fellow Marehans?
They were already stationed there prior to Farmaajo in both Doolow and Luuq sectors. It was your uncle who set the precedent and invited foreigners into our land. He did it once in the 70s when he invaded Galdogob and Balanbal with his Habesha Boyfriends until Siad Barre slapped him to reality. Then it was Gabre who slapped him in Villa Somalia in 07, even Hiiraan reported it.

What a shameful legacy.

what accomplishments did he have in the 1977 war? I heard he captured some Oromo towns in bale province :cosbyhmm:

Ever heard that 'we almost captured Addis Ababa'? Well, his army was the one that had Addis Ababa on sight. This is what Ethiopian general had to say about the Somali army, they recognized the brilliance of Abdullahi Yusuf as a commander.

Col. Amsalu, a former student of Gen. Demissie Bulto at the Harar Military Academy and who was imprisoned by Mengistu because of his support for the coup, talked about the tension between Gen. Demissie and the Mengistu regime and the Gen. Demissie’s effort to ameliorate the effects of some of the policies within the army. Gen. Wassihun described the strength of the Somalian army that invaded Southern Ethiopia through Bale and Sidamo and its hand picked leader Col. Abdulahi Yussef (who was president of the transitional government of Somalia until recently). When Gen. Demissie was appointed commander of the Southern Corps, the Somalian Army was only 60 KM from Awasa.

Col. Abdulahi’s army was marching to Addis Ababa emboldened by his success at controlling vast territories and dawning of Ethiopian fighter jets and capturing the famous Ethiopian fighter jet pilot, Col. Legesse Tefera. It took three days for the then Col. Demissie Bulto to reorganize the retreat ting Ethiopian army, turn it into a fighting force, and drive the Somlian army beyond the border. Gen. Wassihun concluded that what prevented the elite Somalian force and its prized leader was the strong leadership of Gen. Demissie and the heroic deeds of many under his command. The military operation in the South against the Somalian army is one of the marbles yet to be chronicled in the annals of war in Ethiopian history.

Real warrior.

Every famous and major event was done by his army. There were several fronts in the 1977 war but the front that he was leading was the most successful and was deep into Ethiopian territory. The other fronts, led by generals outranking him, didn't go beyond the border.

If there was fairness in MSBs regime, AY would've been promoted to a general.

What a shameful legacy.
Aren't you a Kacaanist who defends a dictator who massacred, bombed and tortured his people? Not just you but the USC apologists like @Mckenzie who staunchly hate AY yet glorify their war criminals who did much worst? I'm sorry but none of you have any credibility to be criticizing anyone, don't play the "Morality" card.

Appreciate what? Being an amisom colony for the last 14 years? Having Ethiopia and Kenya run amok on our lands...killing our men and raping our women?

I can get MJ’s supporting AY and his ideals that’s understandable.

However, you won’t find one of them making constructive criticism and recognising his mistakes.

Let’s say my man wanted the best for Somalis..that he wanted to build a democratic government. Was it worth pursuing his ideas by inviting the sworn enemy of Somalis? Was it worth seeing the humiliation the Ethiopians brought about to our proud people? The blood that was spilt?

MJ’s don’t see the pain and destruction he caused because at the end of the day let’s be real....it’s only Hawiye that suffered and so to them we got our just deserts for our USC days.

AY legacy is making us the first African country to be colonised by fellow African countries.

My friend it was easier to go through oromos areas...they were sympathetic and alot of them actually hated the amharic dominated government...so he cut through it like in knife in butter.

Sxb AY didn't bring no Ethiopians into Somalia, they were already there as far as 1991, Cumar Masalle was the first one to bring them in, you can't re-rewrite history, the International community brought them in including the US.

The Kacaan never bowed down to Ethiopia and were Alpha af. Unlike the bow towed traitor who lead our historic enemy to the coasts of Somaal for the first time ever. Mogadishu was peaceful for the first time in 30 years before he came and destroyed the cities massacring thousands of Somalis
