Possible Khat Ban

It might be possible for other regions, not so sure about khatlanders though

Somalis are equally in love with khat, whether they are from the north or the south. The day they ban Khat is the day hell will break loose. On top of that Khat is the biggest source of tax revenue for almost every state. You can ban Khat in qurbaha but never back home

big source of tax revenue for administrations but is it really worth it for the people basically flushing their money down the toilet?

Especially with this money going to Ethiopia/Kenya.

If they’re going to waste this much money at least grow it in your own country which is cheaper for the buyer and money stays in the economy

Southern culture isnt as gripped by khat tbh. Kismaayo wasnt that crazy but if you go to places like JigJiga or hargeisa/bari, its a major problem.

People will essentially work 3-4 hours and then take the day off as a “break”. Israel made it a juice, that might be worth promoting in all honesty.

I think the virus can live on surfaces for up to 3 days, I don’t know much about Khat but does the plant spoil quickly? The government can make adjustments like grounding khat planes for 4 days making sure any virus that came, died.

I am a fan of long term solutions to khat and not pulling the rug under their feet. Substance abuse need therapy, jobs and support in their journey. :)
