Somali Astrology/Astronomy was very alive back then but now it's basically dead

The guy was a Sufi Qadiriyya who followed some Persian saint Abdul Qadir Gilani why you surprised he was into this weird Astrology deviant stuff.

My parents used to mention how Backhome there regions and even clans where the sufis call upon Gilani and even ask him to aid them and heal them - May Allah destroy this Ottoman-persian imported disease. I blame the early sultanates opening the horn and trading with certain islamic empires not only do goods come in but preachers and their poison.

This has nothing to do with Ottomans. The lunar mansions in Somali culture are pre Islamic. It was synchronised with Islamic culture later. I posted a study on it here:

I think the fact that an Islamic grave inscription from the 1200s mentions a somali calendar date alongside the Islamic one is incredibly overlooked

I have never head of something like this before where they put an obviously non Islamic calender on a Muslim gravestone. I think its a testament to how important this stuff must have been in somali culture that it wasn't even abandoned after islamization and that people were putting it on Islamic gravestones.

Am talking about astrology and mysticism not using the stars as guidance for travelling since Allah put that in place for people to do.

Its really not. If you type the word xiddigs into YouTube you'll find dozens and dozens of videos of somali news channels inviting people who know stuff about somali astrology/astronomy to do segments on it. There's even several books on this topic that have come out
That's true
