His PhD is useless in akhiro but PhD was useful in this life. Allah SWT wants you to accomplish goals and to help others while you are alive in addition to practising as a Muslim which is what he did getting a PhD. His time was up because he was murdered. They will be punished for killing him and killing his knowledge he could have provided to his country. Everything positive we do in this life is not useless. It is expected by Allah SWT. He wants us to improve the community. We have a purpose in this life after worshipping him.
