Over-familiarity with Somalis by non-Somalis

The more I hear about UK Somalis the more I’m disappointed :kodaksmiley:
It's not all of us. There are a lot of us with dhiig, but at the same time there's also a lot of Ajnabis bootlickers around us. That's why Ajnabis feel comfortable disrespecting us. You won't see the J*reers have the same energy for the Albanians. For some reason they are shook of them. North America might be different though

The enablers are so strange. Never in my life has any Ajnabi I’ve spent a great deal of time with taught me a single lick of their language or culture. Not even those I spent over a decade with in school. This is gate keeping done right.

We are being faced with increasing intentions and social unrest. This is reinforcing ethnocentrism and nationalism in the enclaves of the West, and the Ajnabi bootlickers aren’t gonna do us any favours. Now that we’re so exposed and so open, it’s already obvious we’re being targeted, and those very same Ajnabis will throw your community under the bus to save themselves when they can.

True, and also what you need to understand is the UK is a very hard place to live. The cost of living here is very high, the weather is bad, the Somali community is almost non existent, mental health is through the roof, income inequality and so. This island is cursed

Non Somalis protect their culture with dignity yet don’t uphold the standards for Somalis. I can’t nessesarily blame them for being hypocritical when our very own Somalis won’t protect their language and lineage. And even when you do exert your boundaries and put them in their place you have another nacas ready to validate and tell them it’s okay to play with our culture

Turks, Indians, Pakistanis, and various Arab communities have been living in the West for over half a century, yet I don’t observe the same kind of overfamiliarity directed at them that I often notice with Somalis, who’ve only been in the West for about 30 years.

On social media, you will see non-Somalis casually using Somali words, sometimes even forming full sentences, under content specifically geared toward Somalis.

In real life, some feel comfortable shouting things like “warya,” “naya,” or “Abdi” at Somalis they’ve never met. That kind of unsolicited familiarity doesn’t seem to be directed at the other groups mentioned, despite their longer and more established presence. What explains this disproportionate overfamiliarity with Somalis in particular?

Thoughts?

There is one benefit to this. If somalis can utilize their outsized social media presence to protect Somalis, Somalia and Somali honor, that would be great.

When Somali seas were at risk of being Sold, Many somalis online raised their voice and made their worries known on many popular social media websites. I think that prevented the tragedy.

we are mainly talking about derogatory Somali words used by ajanabis confidently against other Somalis.

Y'all are getting pressed out by the words "warya" and "naya" those aren't even bad words. When I hear an Ajnabi say that I feel proud that they are speaking Somali, y'all should have a more imperialist mindset and get people to speak your language not vice versa

Speaking of Non-somalis being familiar with us, my coworkers once posted a pirate cartoon next to my name on my cube. Back when the movie Captain Philips came out.

We are popular sometimes for all the wrong reasons and sometimes for the right reasons. It is a small world.
