i dont mind if its goodTurks, Indians, Pakistanis, and various Arab communities have been living in the West for over half a century, yet I don’t observe the same kind of overfamiliarity directed at them that I often notice with Somalis, who’ve only been in the West for about 30 years.
On social media, you will see non-Somalis casually using Somali words, sometimes even forming full sentences, under content specifically geared toward Somalis.
In real life, some feel comfortable shouting things like “warya,” “naya,” or “Abdi” at Somalis they’ve never met. That kind of unsolicited familiarity doesn’t seem to be directed at the other groups mentioned, despite their longer and more established presence. What explains this disproportionate overfamiliarity with Somalis in particular?
Thoughts?

Yes it's always a stranger this has happened to me so many times because I'm very visibly somali and all my friends and family are pissed at it as well it is common. Once there was a somali boy who just stood there and let them while these TJs called me warya because I walked away after not wanting to talk with them bc they were strangers like what?????I knew it was common! I think it affects women more with strangers, but men are more likely to get it from their friends than women are.

Great point. Unsolicited opinions, and straight up obsession. This aint healthy at all. I’ve recently had some episodes on shaqo where other collegues «test the air» but I check them imedeatly and set the presedence. Once they get to know you have no boundaries weird questions gonna come up all of a sudden. For the slow ones «who doesnt take it to heart» listen behind the words, and what they really mean dont bahdil your selfYou don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
