We could be one of the best countries not only in Africa but the whole world but we are severely held back by rampant corruption and cancerous clan politics. Its even affecting our ability to defeat Al-Shabaab once and for all. The amount of potential being wasted over nonsense is just depressing as hell.

What do you mean? 30+ years later and we cant even solve our inter-clan differences and come together for the greater good of the country and the future of the Somali people. Its embarrassing at this point. The world is now watching us as we fight each other over dry, empty lands while the rest of Africa is starting to move forward. Following Somali politics is depressing. Im just venting because we could be doing so much better for the motherland as a unit. We're doing well in the diaspora and Kenya but we somehow are unable to govern ourselves in the homeland.
All of this true but its more depressing that this status quo will never end most likely
In the next fifty years I think a good chunk of Somalis will move elsewhere, maybe even a second Somali state may emerge elsewhere
Our existence on the red sea has been a huge problem in the 21st century. Maybe that's for the best
My advice, dantada raac, prioritise your own wellbeing and your family. Look out for yourself your community and host nation, pyramid of priorities. Not saying don’t forget your origin.
Somalia is a basket case and luckily you haven’t seen it at its worst, whereas I and my family have. Always thank Allah for the peace and relative comfort you have. Wa salamu Aleykum.
P.S you’re really not missing out on much with Somalia in terms of longing and familiarity
AmiinOfc I always thank Allah. Some people have told me how bad the civil war is which alhamdulillah my family didnt experience since we all left before 1991. The war should never have happened and may allah grant the fallen jannatul firdaws and anyone who is alive today may they be given justice bi’ithnillah.
i feel disconnectedsorry for the rant but i dont feel fully western nor do I feel fully somali. Im wafting in between the 2 like a nomad.
as bad as the west is, alhamdulillah for it. I cant even complain of racism because if the natives were cunsuri somalis instead of cunsuri white people, I wouldve been living basically jahannam on earth. I like the diversity of the west and the myriad of opportunities. I was really blessed in that regard.
i still cannot shake off the fact what if? What if somalia was doing great? Would I be living there today? What if the war didnt happen? What if siad barre didnt fall? So much questions no more answers.
i pray for my nation everyday i pray for everyone from djibouti to lamu to babile. May Allah grant our people peace forget politics.
I rage when I see Somalis blame clan.
Blaming clan is silly just like shabab has shown how it hijacks religion and even Nationalist do the same hiding their filth under the Somali name. Somalis have a character issue and its systemic bruv so its not random or some anomoly
Clan, Nation, Faith are just systems being abused by a people with a rotten culture. I would call.for a cultural revolution not blaming clan or shabab. I've said this many times.in the past and will die saying it till my grave.
