It's hard to say on one hand Somalis are not the easiest to infiltrate because of their meticulous lineage accounting which is qabil. While on the other hand it's our ethnicities greatest weakness because we live in a globalized word of nations where clan divisions are a huge hindrance toward overall national success.

I agree. It's not a system that can withstand the 21st century. It's been useful but if we don't adapt, our country will never prosper. Many other societies were the same but had to change to become the superpowers they are today.

What Somali from Galbeed don't have family in Somalia? Does he not know that Somalis in all regions have transnational links? and they freely move back and forth. And how can he mention Somaliland and say there is no safety there? as if Oromia and Ethiopia in general isn't mass violence camps and heck in ways that are far more problematic (kidnappings, government exortions, theft , robbery) in cities like Addis.

My guess they are probably the Oromo that was deported by the Somaliland authority, recently as part of security crack down on illegal crossings. I am not really suprised about the job parts, because of their undocumented status they end up either begging, or doing menial work like cutting hair, shoe shinning etc.

The Oromo are undoubtedly the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, so why do they migrate into Somalia instead of just solidifying their power in Ethiopia?

They have solidified their political power, they have basically taken over the whole state security apparatus in the country and Abyi Ahmed is half Oromo and so is many of the high ranking milititary official's Oromo. So political power is neither in the hands of Amhara or Tigray, it's in their hands. That's why they are at war with Fano.

It really shows to you how Ethiopia is a fully broken system. Oromo Elites control Ethiopia's security and political system, but the average Oromo is struggling because the country lacks economic oppurtunity, wealth and security.

But also it reveals that most of the economic power still remains in the hands of Tigrayan and Amhara elites.

So the political control hasn't translate into wealth, industry or oppurtunity for them. Political dominance means nothing if the economic system is collapsing.

Both of these men look Somali and of course when interacting with a foreigner in English they will pronounce the names of Somali cities in an intelligible way to English speakers. I hope an Oromo takes the girl of your dreams

Ethiopia honestly confuses me, especially as someone who just very lightly skims its politics. I'd love to hear from those more informed, but my impression is that it's a powder keg. No single ethnic group holds absolute power. The ruling elite seems to be a mix, with Oromos dominating the political and security apparatus under Abiy Ahmed, while Amharas hold influence in bureaucracy and the economy. But it's not outright Amhara dominance—if anything, tensions are escalating, with Amhara militias now fighting the government and security issues flaring up in multiple regions, including just outside Addis in the surrounding Oromia region where, according to a young lady I know from Addis, you're liable to get kidnapped by random Oromo bandits if you just drive outside of the city. Place sounds insane.
