Not simple. Would you seemingly try to correct a zionist on their claims to palestine? They are far gone, this ideology is ingrained into them and a simple discussion will not work. The only transit location is Bosaso and probably Djibouti. Oromos in SL and Garowe are there to stay, they’ve been here for a decade+, there’s no turning back for them. Don’t be naive and think that they are just passerby’s who are trying to tahrib. If that was the case the local population wouldn’t be complaining. Then you correct them about it , simple. If he wants to tell the story of the Sheikh whom i assume was an important figure in their story he is welcome to talk about it and there is nothing wrong with visiting his grave either.
I am not playing anything down. There is a migrant crisis, but the reality is that most Oromos use northern Somali territories as a transit point to Saudi Arabia, not as a final destination. It is similar to how North Africa is a transit route to Europe. The idea that they have some plot to take over Somaliland or Djibouti is baseless; there are multiple studies and news reports that document this clearly.
Very few actually remain, and those who do face constant hardships, deportations, and evictions. It is unfair to inflate this into xenophobic exaggerations when, at its core, it is about people escaping economic hardship.
I emphasize menial jobs to highlight those economic struggles. They are welcome to work in regular jobs alongside Somalis. After all, there are many Somalis working abroad, and it would be hypocritical to condemn others for seeking opportunities in our country.
When people bring up their thievery, cannibalism, banditry etc and your go to response is masakinta iska dhaafa then you may be the problem. We are becoming SOFT, go to Oromo lands and try that stuff they’ll turn you into bbq chicken.
