Oromo invasion has become a reality

Then you correct them about it , simple. If he wants to tell the story of the Sheikh whom i assume was an important figure in their story he is welcome to talk about it and there is nothing wrong with visiting his grave either.

I am not playing anything down. There is a migrant crisis, but the reality is that most Oromos use northern Somali territories as a transit point to Saudi Arabia, not as a final destination. It is similar to how North Africa is a transit route to Europe. The idea that they have some plot to take over Somaliland or Djibouti is baseless; there are multiple studies and news reports that document this clearly.

Very few actually remain, and those who do face constant hardships, deportations, and evictions. It is unfair to inflate this into xenophobic exaggerations when, at its core, it is about people escaping economic hardship.

I emphasize menial jobs to highlight those economic struggles. They are welcome to work in regular jobs alongside Somalis. After all, there are many Somalis working abroad, and it would be hypocritical to condemn others for seeking opportunities in our country.
Not simple. Would you seemingly try to correct a zionist on their claims to palestine? They are far gone, this ideology is ingrained into them and a simple discussion will not work. The only transit location is Bosaso and probably Djibouti. Oromos in SL and Garowe are there to stay, they’ve been here for a decade+, there’s no turning back for them. Don’t be naive and think that they are just passerby’s who are trying to tahrib. If that was the case the local population wouldn’t be complaining.

When people bring up their thievery, cannibalism, banditry etc and your go to response is masakinta iska dhaafa then you may be the problem. We are becoming SOFT, go to Oromo lands and try that stuff they’ll turn you into bbq chicken.

I agree that we should prevent illegal migration flows. It is important to repatriate people in a safe, secure, and humane way. Allowing this situation to continue only harms both them and Somalis, so I hope Somaliland authorities take it seriously.

But the idea of them “taking over” is pure xenophobia and fear-mongering. That narrative is far removed from reality and people need to ease up on it.

They are not filling a genuine employment gap. These are small scale activities like shoe shining or car washing on the roadside, where passersby give a few coins out of pocket. It is not work that displaces locals or deprives them of jobs.

That really isn’t happening. Most construction work, easily 99% of it along with other wage labor is done by locals. I can’t stress this enough. There is no displacement of Somali workers by Indians or anyone else.

If you look through the websites, media catalogues, and team profiles of most construction and engineering companies, you will see they are staffed almost entirely by Somalis.

I’ve already shared many examples in different threads:

Here is another example:

Some companies even state this directly on their websites. And this one is based in Garowe.

The demand is so broad and high that there are many competing firms, and only a few bring in foreigners and even then it is for very specialized tasks. The purpose is to transfer technical skills to the local workforce while working alongside skilled Somali laborers. The same thing happens when diaspora professionals return, or when Somali graduates from local universities and technical schools are hired: they are integrated into these companies and contribute to skill transfer.

Most major firms are also registered with the Ministry, at least according to their own websites.
How many times have I told you that Ethiopians do not only do small businesses but all kinds of businesses. Just go to Hargeisa and you will see.

I think there’s a reasonable link people will make between a video of this nature, and the broader belief these very same people hold about the land itself, and how it is a part of their ancestral homelands. Calling it a “takeover” is an exaggeration, but the deeper sentiment behind these reactions actually makes perfect sense.

And in 2025, with Ukraine, Taiwan, the ongoing displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank etc etc, why would you be surprised that people are outraged? Especially when the very same people making these videos openly declare your lands to be theirs?

Thats not true . This article i linked earlier shows it, you can look through it was published earlier this year and it documents their migration.

“I am going to Saudi Arabia, or my grave”: The exodus of Ethiopia’s frustrated youth

Djibouti used to be transit point until they were deported and their route was shut down but you can see here on this illustration that they pass through many locations in Waaqoyi before reaching Bosaso

As for the security issues, you should take that up with the Somaliland police. To me, most of it sounds like pure exaggeration.

And how are they supposedly “taking work from Somalis” while at the same time being thieves, bandits, or beggars? Do you even hear how ridiculous and xenophobic that fear mongering sounds?

How many times have I told you that Ethiopians do not only do small businesses but all kinds of businesses. Just go to Hargeisa and you will see.

He’s talking about them being all over the place, in marketplaces, on the roads, at various sites looking for work. He’s spazzing out over the sudden influx, but it will pass.
You can see it from this:

This comment even says, "If I were to count the number of Oromo people on the road in front of me one day, I would count more than 100. They would be walking in droves."

This actually shows how they are migratory and passing through, while trying to find ways to sustain themselves.

I don’t see any issue if some of them work and contribute economically. The real problem is the unregulated flow of migration. Somaliland authorities need to address it and shut down the routes.

A bunch of youth escaping economic hardship in rural villages, lured by smugglers with false promises of a better future and trying to reach Saudi Arabia, is being framed as part of a plot to displace Somalis like comparing it to Jews displacing Palestinians.

Be real. If this isn’t the definition of exaggeration and fear mongering, I don’t know what is.

The Oromo, Gaal and Muslim, are claiming Hargaysa to be theirs. It will be hard in the future for Somalis to distinguish between the omotic looking Issaqs from the Qooti.
