They are a mixed people; most of the ones in Hararaghe or the former borders of Adal do have mixed ancestry from the people they assimilated, it's lack of education and clinging onto others history, AA claim they are the real Israelites and that they are native to America, unless they have power, they can't do much.
In Borama, they can never assimilate; no one will marry their men, I'm sure the same is true in Hargeisa, Somalis are welcoming of adding foreign women into their gene pool, but not men unless they are Sheikhs, and still they be outside of the clan system.
The oroms that are going to Hargeisa are coming from places that they are probably earning around 27$ a month.

This is the main reason. Its not that somalis are lazy. But in ethiopia a doctor makes like $100 dollar a month. To them getting paid half of what the avg somali laborer gets paid would be more than enough. Plus they dont come with families but its single individuals who send their money back. Whereas your avg somali labored has a family to feed in the city.
