In the year before the Oromo conquest, the emir of Harar Nur ibn Mujahid fought and defeated Abyssinia's emperor Galadewos, avenging Imam Ahmed Gurey
But while celebrating their victory the news came to them of a Oromo invasion of the Harar emirate
This led to Emir Nur deciding to return to Harar by making a detour out of fear of advanced Oromo bands
The Oromo followed him and when they felt Nur's troops were unprepared, surprise attacked him at Mount Hazalo
Harar never recoverd from the defeat at hazalo and over the years the emirate was reduced to the town itself
Knowing that he could not reverse the tide, Emir Nur concentrated on saving city and built the walls of Harar today
