A Laandheere always pays his debts
A Somali's most optimal place to thrive & succeed is:
- Minority Somali populated
- Adapts but not integrates to the culture he is living in
- Opportunities for success built on meritocracy
- Those opportunities come in the form of entrepreneurism (which transcends being only in "business"), and crucially no possibility for cayr from the govt.
- Have a goal larger than themselves in mind (whether that be invests, side hustles, etc)
The opposite is also true:
A Somali's least optimal place to succeed is:
- Somali densely populated areas
- and/or fully integrates into the culture
- Opportunities based on hands-outs/Qabyaalad/corruption
- Lack of opportunity to unleash the Somali entrepreneurial occupational mindset, and abundance of opportunity for cayr for govt.
- Void of a larger goal given they are stuck in the mud of local politics, qabyaalad, narrow-vision.
Now what do I mean entrepreneurism transcends being in business, well Somalis are traditionally nomadic, they gear towards nomadic jobs even in the West for e.g. trucking, security, sole-business owners, these are all independent and void of micro-management, you are left to your own accord just get the job done.
With all that said: I'd actively avoid the Minnesotas, Londons, Nairobis, of this world and look towards unchartered territories to build & establish a new goal. Somewhere like Malaysia, KL or Indonesia, Jakarta or Salalah/Muscat, Oman where there definitely is some Somalis but it isn't so much that the baggage of Somali trash comes with it, which is the natural case for all of those other cities.
This is by no means self-hatred, its just a realistic outlook on what the greatest environment is for a Somali took succeed.
After all the concept of Somalinimo has a similarly specific condition: Somalinimo is only activated when Somalis are in a specific area with few Somalis (whether that be workplace, neighbourhood, country) and our survival & success is based on co-operation. That isn't the case in London, MN, Kenya (not anymore but it once was), so Somalinimo isn't present.
It isn't a surprise you see the most successful Somalis popping up in unheard of Somali communities. Like that Somali millionaire who is a car dealer in Detroit for example.
I think Its best to start to think where to take your talents to in order to reach new heights, given environment places such a key role for us Somalis.
