But my headcannon is that since both his parents look different he's probably mixed race. The actor who got the role confirmed that since oda approved all of them and the guy us south african mixed race.

his mother in the manga/anime was pale cadaan but with curly hair so she's probably north African and his father could be from anywhere in sub Saharan Africa but he's mixed for sure.
