I can't lie though it's crazy how many of these people back home are making tiktok videos and edits about this shit. While obviously its qabil motivated I cant help but wonder where this comes from.

Theres a clear underlying pattern connecting the weird jokes you see diasporids make online and these dumb people making tiktoks about this election. As well as somalis seemingly always being terminally online.

There's also the ridiculous amount of YouTube videos somalis have always been producing for the last 15 years.

I’m a big supporter of Somalis creating their own separate online ecosystem with homegrown alternatives and gradually blocking off mainstream social media platforms back home.

It wouldn’t even be that difficult to do , we just need to build our own spaces for education, entertainment, and communication. That will solve it.

As for why so many Somalis follow elections so closely, I think it comes down to the fact that we’re a transnational community , what happens in one place resonates everywhere
