Fateh had to constantly cater to the Somali community and barely reached out to any other group, all while getting hate from the right-wing establishment. Somalis make up less than 10% of Minneapolis’s population but Somalis make you think they make up 90%. Once we hit second round, expect the lead to grow by over 20% that gap isnt just because X clan boycotted him, but people will delude themselves into believing their little boycotts did that, making future Somalis be even more inter-community focussed.
It was just a weird campaign from a non-Somali point of view. You had this Somali guy constantly talking to and interacting with his own community, while Frey shows up, speaks some broken Somali, and that’s enough for him to even contest the Somali vote.
Fateh didn’t realize that being Somali is a 0–2 situation when a white guy waves a Somali flag, it’s seen as endearing; when a Somali does it, he’s accused of dual loyalty.
Besides, Frey is a much stronger public speaker than Fateh. Fateh’s eyes are constantly on his paper instead of looking at the crowd.

Win or lose the election, Omar fateh is winning. he has inspired lot of people, earned credibility, grown in influence and respect . Plus he is competing against the guy who has been the mayor of the city since 2013.

You are honestly so dumb it’s laughable. Continue calling other Somalis langaab and pretend you run things. Somalis make up 1.12% of the population in Minnesota, forget Minneapolis. No one needs to appeal to the Somali community or your community who “dominates” to win a single thing. Omar Fateh did a great job running against an established man, and anyone who thinks he lost because of Somalis is also silly.

Also i wouldn't worry too much about the youth. Somali elders have already established neighborhood night watches to keep an eye on the youth away from disturbances:

I don’t think it’s fair to insult him or attack his background. A lot of Jews are great people, and some even stood with Omar Fateh.
Jacob Frey is still a solid human being. Beyond the qabil/Nasri element, I think some Somalis may have genuinely supported him because he appealed to them the most. He’s been a familiar face in the Somali community, has reached out to them consistently, and has never shown any ill will toward them. He’s also maintained a respectful posture toward Omar.
The opposition really came down to policy and directional differences.
All Omar needs to do now is continue his work as a state legislator and build on the momentum from his mayoral campaign. That way, he’ll have an even bigger shot at it when the next election comes around in four years.
I applaud her for saying that in English. If shame from outsiders will bring an end to all things qabil I support it.

Not insulting him because his won the election, it serves as an opportunity for Fateh to develop better public speaking skills and strengthen his initiative but let’s stop acting like Frey is this great human being that like Somalis. His campaign team has been endlessly pushing hate and fraud rhetoric (the very same ammo wignats use) defaming Ilhan and Fateh and even digging up things so they can smear them on antisemitic basis.
