Guys- i just finished a biography of an 18th century British aristocrat and politician. "A Gentleman among them" It is about Lord Castlereagh. What a man. What a man. Walaahi i am in awe of this man- it brings me very severe emotions. First of all, thank God for the British aristocrats in their habits of preserving family letters. It is through these letters that we know what happened more than 2 hundred years ago. In this book i witnessed the love of a son and his father. Walaahi oo bilaahi oo tolaahi- never have i seen the love of such a son and father documented. Sometimes it drives me into an emotional roller-coaster sniffling's- and i am a Jiini. I do not get emotional. In the past i have read Biography of famous 18th century English aristocratic sisters as well- two sisters and their mother who loved each other with mad passion- so much that- their love-gave pause to people around them with glittering awe.
Going through this book, i was struck with the glorious decency of this man- he never had biological children. He was a politician all his life, his wife, always brilliant but very odd. The husband-and-wife love was not so powerful to me, at least in my observation. But the love of this son with his "uncle" whom there is no blood relation was FIRE. Father of this son married mother of his child- she gets pregnant- dies at childbirth and father marries again- and this new young mother raises the infant boy as hers. This infant boy grows up under the tutelage of his non blood uncle (u could say adopted grandfather)- father of his new young step mom? When this uncle died- at late age- he confessed his love for his adopted son or grandson, as if he was his own. (mind u they wrote each others letters for decades, in regularity) Very Powerful stuff! Guys - i teared when i read that letter. And i teared even more when i read the letter of the biological father confession of love to his son.
In the end- i calculated -that this son had a destiny from Allaah swt. He was Foreign Secretary and did a lot of good for Ireland-in which he is from. (and which he was discriminated, even tho he belonged to the Irish aristocracy! The English Aristocracy were toxic) His personality was manly- great fortitude, almost like robotic with decency and devotion and loyalty.
A year after his father died of old age- Lord Castlereagh committed suicide by slashing his throat.
