This is good considering we are spread across both sides of the border and have much larger rural population than HG. If the current trend of HG migration to Xamar continues we will be the undisputed majority in GM in a couple decades. Unlike our hutu neighbours
This is an area equivalent in size to Awdal and and there are more Reer miyi on the other side of the border than the Somali side

I really doubt the Banadir numbers.
Shibis at 128k and Kaaraan at 131k is hard to believe. Shibis lost population after the 2008 qax, while Kaaraan gained much new comers.
Also the Dayniile/Yaaqshiid numbers are way off. Legally Daarasalam/Ratiweyne is still part of Yaaqshiid. Dayniile was basically baadiye pre-2008, although it did gain a lot of population since then, 727k is still too high.
Would love to see maps and population density.

It’s a very big district land wise it’s just less densely populated

Somalia needs to build up mid size cities. Otherwise the major cities will start resembling slums with high income neighbourhoods dottted around.

Click on the first data link Very informative it breaks down population by age group as well the data was collected in 2024 and released in may 2025 first district breakdown since 2014 if I’m not mistaken

We might be the most urbanized major subclan in all of Somalia. Even assuming a conservative 50/50 split of Dayniile there’s still 3x Murusade in that one xaafaad than in entirety of Ceelbuur district (which also has a small Duduble minority). Take into account all of the other xaafads in Mogadishu where we live in significant numbers (Wardhiigley, Hodan, Hawl-Wadaag, Wadajir, Wardhiigley) along with lower shabelle and the split gets even worse. There’s no one in Galmudug anymore.

Urbanization is good in the short term in terms of education and economics but in the long term rural is king when it comes to demographics

Worrying about numbers is pretty stupid in my opinion ngl. If you’re expecting to fight a war sure but otherwise who cares. Somalia is rapidly urbanizing and I expect the trend to only increase as the climate gets more volatile

Add that to Merca, Afgooye etc districts in LS which hosts large settlements of beesha.

Speaking of Merca, apparently 1/3 of Biimaal (jileec) are Murusade. The other 2/3 are Quranyow and Habar Jeclo which is why Biimaal is Dir. Where are the Dir’s on this forum? @NidarNidar

Ceelbuur town was the capital of Galguduug up until 1991 for a reason. It was a financial hub. At one point in time 90% of Galguduud was called Ceelbuur.
