I think its interesting to them because they hold a certain view of what an African south of the Sahara looks like. Imagine what would happen if their was more of an awareness of the difference in our culture, our history, music etc. More people would obsess over us. It is definitely something to capitalize on. Which is why I think we need to brand the Horn African sphere. It would allow us to capitalize on Somali weebs/ Somaliphiles in the diaspora. We could invent things that are rooted in the culture that are "modern", flashy, interesting to learn or experience that would enrich our people, creating a cultural renaissance, while cashing in on those somali weebs.
Gotta cash in on those who are obsessed with us. ( while simultaneously protect us from Afrocentric homogenization by creating a refined cultural renaissance. )


Is it me or is it rare to see these "more cushitic" features in Somalis back home? I feel like people in the diaspora look more "Somali" then those at home.

Basically it's an outdated term. Race is a social construct. Ethnic identities make more sense. If you leave the West, you'll probably stop caring about being Black, and just say you're Somali.
