Lets not forget 40 years ago Garowe was much like Garbaharre if not smaller, a place where people would stop for coffee on the way from bosaso to galkacyo, and now its the fastest growing city in Somalia and capital of Puntland. Fun fact, it was actually MJs who lived with MXs that devoloped Gedo in the 40s/50s/60s. There used to be many doctors/ civil servants / businessmen/ traders in the region during this time, the kacaan damaged the relation between mxs and mjs which led many of these productive people to leave the region. As a result, 1; MXs and MJs still don't like eachother. 2; Gedo remains abandoned and poverty stricken. Sad how things turned out. Sool is poor because of the lack of political stability, it has been a hotbed for warring factions since 1991.
